Our Story
A Calling That Grew Over Time
There was no bright, shining light on our path, nor was there a moment when we heard the audible voice of God. Instead, our calling unfolded slowly — a deepening love and affection that grew over many years.
The Beginning of the Journey
Our mission journey began in 1996 when our dear friends and mentors, missionaries J.R. and Shirley Gould, invited us to join them on a trip to Kenya. From the moment we arrived, a love for missions took root in our hearts. For the next 20 years, we led teams overseas — most often returning to Kenya, with a couple of unforgettable trips to Timbuktu.
Planting Seeds That Still Grow
The first church Pastor Randy Joslin helped plant in Africa was in Kagunduini, Kenya, alongside Pastor Wachira Karani. That church still stands today and continues to reach its community with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pastor Debbie’s Missions Calling
Pastor Debbie Joslin began going on mission trips in 2008, starting with a team trip to Honduras. Her first journey to Kenya came in 2015 with Oasis Ministries in Farmington, New Mexico.
During that trip, the Lord stirred a deep call to missions in her heart. She preached at a Women’s Conference and ministered in Nyeri, Kenya, where many responded to the call to salvation and experienced healing.
A Defining Moment
In 2016, Pastor Debbie returned to Kenya with Shirley Gould — a trip that became a turning point in our ministry. She met orphans in desperate need of care, shelter, food, and support. We were invited to help meet those needs, and from that invitation, a meaningful partnership with Kenya Assemblies of God pastors began to grow.
A Sense of Home
Driving through the Great Rift Valley, passing Maasai village after Maasai village, fresh from ministering to orphans and speaking at the Women’s Conference in Kilgoris, Pastor Debbie felt something unmistakable — she was home. She describes it as a deep “knowing” that this was what she was born to do. She returned to the United States with a promise in her heart to pursue serving these beautiful people.
Grateful for the Call
We are humbled and grateful that Jesus would call us to love and serve the people of Kenya. What began as a simple invitation has grown into a lifelong mission.
And truly, our adventure has only just begun.
